A newly released report from syracuse.com evaluated the upcoming budget numbers for hundreds of districts in the Empire State to determine how much each is proposing to spend on each student.
The report found that the average spending is approximately $19,155, with some districts spending as much as $152,539.
In Suffolk County, the Fire Island School District ranked second in the state at $105,135 per student, followed by Quogue ($97,311, third overall); Bridgehampton ($80,560, third); Amagansetts ($65,742, eighth); East Quogue ($63,161, 10th); Montauk ($61,316, 11th); Shelter Island ($56,032, 15th); Fishers Island ($53,508, 16th); Southampton ($47,495, 21st); Remsenberg-Speonk ($46,602, 24th); and Sag Harbor ($45,478, 25th).
None of the districts in Suffolk County fell into the districts spending the least amount of money in the state, though Franklin Square in Nassau came in at 17th, spending $19,470 per student.
